Hao was in Miami for a conference and had brought us along to join him, because why not? We read about Yardbird in the guidebook and thought it would be a fun place to try out for dinner. We were already in the Lincoln Road Mall area and this was about a block away.  We walked in without a reservation  and were seated immediately, but it was really early.

Mama's Chicken Biscuits

There were so many things I wanted to order from the menu, but there were only two of us and we'd had a late lunch so we weren't very hungry.  I'd heard their fried chicken was good, so we ordered the appetizer size just to try it.  It still looks pretty big, right?  Mama's Chicken Biscuits -- free range fried chicken, pepper jelly,  house-made buttermilk biscuit, was oh-so-good!  The chicken was tender and tasty, and the biscuits were light and fluffy.  Hao and I each had one piece.

Whenever I see deviled eggs on the menu, I simply have to order it.  These organic eggs are made with fresh dill and "redneck caviar" smoked trout roe.  While good, I'm getting a little tired of deviled eggs.  My fault for always ordering them.

I also couldn't resist trying the cherry cola.  Pretty good.  Tasted heartier than regular cherry cola.

Hao ordered these Sweet Tea-Brined Southern Ribs -- tender slow-cooked ribs smothered in house-made BBQ and pickled chilies.  I was too full by this time to eat anything else, but managed to try a piece before Harvey and I left Hao to eat in peace while we entertained ourselves by walking outside.  Yes, traveling with a baby means we sometimes take turns eating while the other takes Harvey out once his patience has been exhausted and he can't sit still anymore.
