We've been on a few road trips lately, and one of the standout finds is The Holy Donut in Maine. We discovered it as we were leaving Portland on our way to Quebec.
I didn't realize that these are actually potato donuts! I thought they were regular donuts that just happened to taste really good. I was sad the ginger chocolate was out of stock since I love all things ginger, but the other flavors I tried did not disappoint.
The dark chocolate sea salt was rich yet somehow still light. I also tried the pink grapefruit which was displayed by the cash register since the owner didn't have enough available racks on her shelves. Again, the frosting was sweet, yet not cloying. It still had a hint of tartness that made me finish one donut in record time.
