Farmers' market strawberries

Harvey and I were on our way home last week when we drove past the town center and saw that there was a farmers' market going on.  Of course we had to stop.  I was thrilled to see these freshly picked strawberries, especially when I realized they weren't the big humongous ones you normally find at the supermarket.  Those giant strawberries always remind me of mutants and I can't help wondering what kind of pesticides have been sprayed on them.  These smaller ones are perfect for snacking on.  They're already sweet and juicy but I still sometimes dip them in some salt and sugar, the way I used to when I was a child.

  2. Omigoodness! What I do is I roll them in damp sugar and then pop in the freezer for about 15 minutes. The sugar crystallizes around the strawberries. It's insane! =)

    2. Easy! Either the strawberries are still wet from washing and I roll them in dry sugar or I spray the sugar slightly so they're ready for the berries!
